This article sets out to discuss the discourse of there being little to no research on early childhood leadership. Wise and Wright look into the definition of early childhood leadership and as they explored this idea they found that there was really no true or one definition for early childhood leadership. Though there is no real definition currently on leadership in early childhood the article discusses how contemporary researchers have tried to create or find a definition for the early childhood field. Wise and Wright throughout the article also explore the effect gender, status and other educational leaderships such as primary school leaderships have on how early childhood leadership is viewed. Though there have been attempts to create a definitions of what early childhood leadership is and how it is viewed in society, there is still this discourse of early childhood leadership to be lesser leadership role compared to one of a principal of a primary school or high school. As I am a new trained early childhood educator I have had a chance to experience the research and ideas of the importance and need for early Childhood leadership. If early childhood education is seen to important as the early years of a child's life a critical why is there no advancement in how early childhood leadership is valued and researched. Though there are contemporary researcher and theorist in today’s society creating awareness of early childhood leadership, there are only these few researchers which are researching these ideas its providing educators, governments and society with this knowledge presenting only one side of their beliefs. I feel that it is important for more early childhood educators and society to become aware of these discourses of leadership and work together to create a stronger education system for the young children of
