Frederick Douglass once said, “If there is no struggle, there will be no progress.” Utilizing this rationale, my students learn it is through the struggle, we as a community, will progress together. Despite holding a Masters in Early Childhood Education with an ESOL and Political Science endorsement from Georgia State University, it has been my time in the classroom that has allowed me to gain first-hand experience in maintaining control of classroom, experimenting with diverse teaching techniques, and supporting students of various ages in their education matriculation. Two of my greatest strengths as a teacher is integration and differentiation. Scholars in my class learn within their zone of proximal development and can generate connections

Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

Philosophy Statement I have chosen to work in this field because I believe that early school years are the most significant in a child’s life as they lay the foundation for future education. True education is one that brings out the person’s potential. Education should encompass the whole child—intellectual, social, emotional and physical aspects of his/her being. Being a preschool teacher involves a true love for the career and working with children. "…

Early childhood educators across the United States must be prepared to teach an increasingly diverse population of young children. More children from immigrant households are enrolled in early childhood programs than ever before, and can continue into the next decade. As United States becomes more linguistically and culturally diverse and as the issue of bilingual education becomes more politically charged, early childhood educators have a responsibility to understand how best to meet children's needs and how to provide effective early childhood education for all children. National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) position statement, responding to Linguistic and Cultural Diversity some recommendations for Effective Early Childhood Education, offers principles of good early childhood practice which hold true regardless of the language spoken by children or their families. “Among these, the biggest single child-specific demographic change in the United States over the next 20…

What I have learned is the importance of not only knowing about the diversity but being able to address it professionally and provide the best possible education for every student. I learned the importance of involving and communicating with the families of my diverse learners as well as the community. I will continue to educate myself about best…

A recent study on social and emotional risk and protective factors that predict early school problems or success found that "children who do not begin kindergarten socially and emotionally competent are often not successful in the early years of school—and can be plagued by behavioral, emotional, academic, and social development problems that follow them into adulthood (U.S Department of Health and Human Services). " Creating a positive social relationship is an important outcome of preschool, possibly more important is avoiding social isolation. Research shows that it is possible to predict as early as preschool the kind of children who will have social and academic problems, because they are already either overlooked or casted off by other children. To develop positive social relationships it is important to build relationships with parents so that children feel safe, secure, and comfortable with their teachers. Provide opportunities for children to work and play together.…

I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was young because I had a teacher that I had a close relationship with and made me love school.
