My Professional Philosophy Statement My personal belief, in regards to teaching early childhood education has three primary components. First of all, I believe it begins with creating a safe and caring atmosphere for young children to learn. Secondly, as an early childhood educator I also place a value on teaching a child developmentally appropriate practices. Finally, making an effort to teach about a child’s family culture, values, beliefs, or expectations assists me to make their experience meaningful through family involvement.…
Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…
Philosophy Statement I have chosen to work in this field because I believe that early school years are the most significant in a child’s life as they lay the foundation for future education. True education is one that brings out the person’s potential. Education should encompass the whole child—intellectual, social, emotional and physical aspects of his/her being. Being a preschool teacher involves a true love for the career and working with children. "…
When people think of a good teacher they think of one that is nice, encouraging, trusting, and many other adjectives. Unlike most people, who change their mind on the career they want, I knew from the start that I wanted to be a teacher. I have many goals I hope to achieve when I am a teacher for example, making class a fun and exciting environment for the students and have them look forward to coming to class. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was young because I had a teacher that I had a close relationship with and made me love school. Ever since I had her as a teacher I knew that I wanted to be like her and teach like she did.…

Career goals for the next five to ten years My career goal for the next five to ten years is already in progress. A year and a half ago, I began my new career with the Division of Child Development in Early Education (DCDEE) within the health and human services department. By utilizing my first steps in obtaining my ultimate professional SMART goals, I planned by the age of 36 years of old, I would transition from my non-profit career within technical assistance and quality enhancement to consultation and enforcing minimum licensing standards at the DCDEE. I always envisioned my career ladder after my nine years service of technical assistance and training, to become a licensing consultant for the State of North Carolina.…
1. What did you like best about the class? Something that I really like from Professor Towns’ courses, is that homework for every chapter was displayed at the beginning of the course. It give me an idea how much work I have to complete every week and check for weeks that may have more homework than others. Also, having the homework at the beginning of the course give students the opportunity to work on it ahead of time.…
Course Reflection and Professional Application While conducting research in this course, I came across a quote from Cesar Chavez, “We need to help students and parents cherish and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that nourishes and strengthens the community – and this nation”. Prior to this course, I was knowledgeable about the cultural, linguistic, and learning needs in my classroom. What I have learned is the importance of not only knowing about the diversity but being able to address it professionally and provide the best possible education for every student. I learned the importance of involving and communicating with the families of my diverse learners as well as the community. I will continue to educate myself about best…
Early years of childhood have widely been recognised as the most important years of learning and development. “Research have shown the importance of these years to learn and acquire new skills” (DEECD, 2010), which have assigned a great responsibility to the educators working with the young children. As an early childhood educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide the high quality learning environment for the young children to learn, acquire and develop social, emotional, academic and technological skills. The following paper contains my philosophy statement, which includes my values and professional knowledge in relation to children, teaching and learning in early childhood education. Connor defines philosophy as “it can be used…
A recent study on social and emotional risk and protective factors that predict early school problems or success found that "children who do not begin kindergarten socially and emotionally competent are often not successful in the early years of school—and can be plagued by behavioral, emotional, academic, and social development problems that follow them into adulthood (U.S Department of Health and Human Services). " Creating a positive social relationship is an important outcome of preschool, possibly more important is avoiding social isolation. Research shows that it is possible to predict as early as preschool the kind of children who will have social and academic problems, because they are already either overlooked or casted off by other children. To develop positive social relationships it is important to build relationships with parents so that children feel safe, secure, and comfortable with their teachers. Provide opportunities for children to work and play together.…
From an early age, I was good at solving puzzles and finding patterns. My interest in this program makes sense, since figuring out how things work are a huge part of the curriculum. I also like knowing how things are made and I like knowing how things work. I have always liked technology, and have always wanted to be a part of making and developing it. Since I like doing these things, the Science and Engineering Learning Center is where I would like to spend the next four years of my life.…
Elijah, Not everyone will know what they want to do for the rest of their lives when starting college. I started off with the idea of becoming a Veterinarian. After a semester of classes, I realized that this was not the path for me. I began looking into my options and felt it click when I decided to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have always loved children and am interested in learning how they grow and develop and how I can help them grow and develop into magnificent human beings.…
Growing up around educators and starting my learning journey at an early age, a thought never crossed my mind: “I really am lucky to have all these people care about my future success.” Not everyone is as fortunate as I am. Early Childhood Education or ECE is an important factor on the success of students all over the world. Last school year, I had planned on starting a book club at one of the feeder schools for my high school, to try to promote reading and boost literacy levels for the school.…
