When I was a freshman in highschool, I often talked to my mother about feeling ready to begin studying at a collegiate level. Knowing that my high school offered a pre-college dual enrollment program for seniors at the local county college, I was eager to take advantage of this opportunity. However, as I grew, I realized that I wanted a challenge that was beyond the simplicity of my local county college. I wanted to be enriched not only academically, but also socially and professionally in terms of living away from home and taking my first step into adulthood. Therefore, I am in college to fulfill my personal development goals of graduating my high school whilst in a dual enrollment, of graduating with my bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin one year early, and of achieving my choice careers in psychology and education. My high school, Morris County School of Technology, greatly prepared me for my assurance in my career choice. Having gone to a …show more content…
The most advantageous of these would be my experience and knowledge in the field of early childhood education. I have experience, education, and training in creative lesson plan development, in special education, in the laws of education, in differentiation of teaching, in the implementation of my knowledge of development in behavioral and cognitive skills, and in the implementation of my knowledge of childhood development. Having taken a class in human behavior, as well as two summer psychology courses at Oxford University and Gettysburg College, I will bring my knowledge as well as the great interest that I have derived from these courses to my preparation for my career. I also have experience in working with children with special needs, as well as with foster children and children who were victims of child abuse. I am very empathetic, and I am an active listener.
