I choose this photo to show my beliefs about functional, developmentally appropriate, aesthetically intriguing, intellectually provocative, and educationally sound learning environments for young children. The photo represents the environment being the third teacher. Children are participating in different activities independently, they are exploring by bringing nature in the classroom. Notice the teacher is the bystander allowing children to express themselves freely and have control over their own learning. There is a comfortableness presented in the children. Documentation and students work are displayed to help establish a sense of ownership. Art is used as a tool for cognitive development. The room has different section which are set

The environment changed drastically in the last fifteen minutes at this point, in the span of just fifteen minutes four more toddlers and a child, perhaps only a few months shy of one were brought in. The three original toddlers all seemed to react to the new additions, either by watching them being walked in by a parent or by watching them as they too found their place in the play area. The music was still on, but none of the toddlers seemed to pay it any mind and it soon, even to me became just another piece of the ambiance. Yet, as the number of child grew in the room the size they were able to traverse decreased, the younger child that came in with the new toddlers was place on the other side of the room and the divider gate, which had…

The early years of a child’s life are absolutely crucial to how they receive and process information about lifelong behaviors, attitudes, and morals. During this time they are more receptive to learning new idea, concepts, and suggestions. Eduardo, a new teachers assistant should have taken all of these things into perspective when he was planning a healthy eating lesson for a class of 4 year olds. The lesson included a grocery store role play activity, books about food that the children could read, and a MyPlate sorting activity. The children seemed to really enjoy the grocery store, and book reading, but they failed to become engaged in the MyPlate sorting activity.…

My overall experience was absolutely phenomenal, having the opportunity to observe these three different places has truly opened my eyes. I have never heard of any of these types of learning environments before observing at them, except for the early childhood special education classroom. It is truly mind blowing to see how we can educate our youth of today. Conducting observations and assessing a child was interesting, this semester I have been mostly on the observation side with little time on the teaching side, so having to interact with these students while assessing them and the environment at the same time was hard for me. It was hard to take in everything while giving your all to the child you were interacting with.…

I was hired to take care of Evan McMullens 80 year old mother who was recovering from a fall in Capital Hill neighborhood . I was under the impression that the mother needed more help late in the evenings and early in the mornings with occasional nights here and there. Well that wasn't the case. Ms Mullen needed care through 4:30AM 99% of the time. She needed help getting to the bedside commode as well as getting back to bed, She needed help repositioning and getting her up, After working there for a week I reported to Evan letting him know of my observations and that the entire shift was an awake shift and that the rate we had negotiated was too low for his mothers level of care.…

My most memorable experience so far with the preschoolers was when we found a green bug that none of us recognized in Memory Park. The several children I was with were so intrigued by the bug and some even took leaves, sticks, or rocks to put near the bug and started to guide the bug back to the dirt and bushes. This experience was noteworthy to me because the children demonstrated knowledge of the natural world in that they should lead it back to its home rather than lead it farther away and potentially scare the bug. Some of the children wanted to squish or poke the bug but after observing the other children, they followed along and learned to be gentle with the bug because the bugs are more afraid of humans than we are of them.…

On September 16th, 2015 I went to Chippewa Elementary School in Holtsville, New York. I made an observation at the beginning of the day in Mrs. Carey’s Kindergarten class. The purpose of this observation is to observe and evaluate the human matters of sentiments, behaviors, standards and relationships between teachers and students within the classroom. When I first walk into the classroom it felt dreary due to the whole classroom having dark stained wood paneling on all walls, dark wooden tables and desks. The teacher tried to brighten up with classroom by displaying photos of the children’s family members, birthday calendar displaying all the children’s upcoming birthdays, word wall, student’s names, along with educational posters and art…
