Early Childhood Classroom Observation

My overall experience was absolutely phenomenal, having the opportunity to observe these three different places has truly opened my eyes. I have never heard of any of these types of learning environments before observing at them, except for the early childhood special education classroom. It is truly mind blowing to see how we can educate our youth of today. Conducting observations and assessing a child was interesting, this semester I have been mostly on the observation side with little time on the teaching side, so having to interact with these students while assessing them and the environment at the same time was hard for me. It was hard to take in everything while giving your all to the child you were interacting with. This gave me an insight

Observation: Rise Program Physical Setting Rise is a beautiful facility. All of the windows looking into the classrooms and looking outside are my favorite because they provide light, openness, and a sense of connection throughout the whole building. The commons is also a great area. It is large and open for all of the kids to spread out and explore their surroundings, while engaging in gross motor activities, such as going down a slide, riding a tricycle, or jumping on a trampoline.…

There, I had the opportunity to observe lessons as well as helping young people with any questions about the work they may have. I had the opportunity to work with different year groups of different abilities and I very much enjoyed the day. I found it very inspiring when a young person would ask me a question about a problem they did not understand and I explained it in such a way that they came away saying they understood it. One student took to answering their problem with confidence out loud in the classroom, which of course made me very happy. The idea of helping many more students in this way with many more problems underlines why I want to become a teacher.…

My field work experience had started in the preschool and where I have done the majority of my observations thus far. In the preschool I was beginning to understand how the different of components of the preschool all had concepts of phycology through all aspects of the classroom. During my time I saw how Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, how students handled new information through various methods, and Vygotsky’s sociocultural perspective are incorporated through different sections of the classroom. The classroom was based that learning should not be a structured experience, but learning should be developed through play and exploration.…

My child observation and classroom observation took place at the Mt. San Jacinto Child Development and Education center in the preschool/pre-k (ages 36 months to 54 months) program room. This classroom has 2 teachers and 15 children in attendance during my observation. My study child is a male student age 4 who for this assignment I will refer to as C. The classroom environment as a whole can handle the children within the program, however I will provide a better picture of the entire room to have a clear picture for reflection. As a child walking into this classroom you feel a sense of warmth of both the environment and also from the teacher as she greats all her children individually.…

As an early childhood teacher there has been many factors that have led me to stay in the early childhood education field, when I was a VPK teacher I stayed because of the neighborhood. It was my neighborhood. A place where my children have studied and have made new friendships. I think one of the rewards as a neighborhood teacher was knowing that I was impacting the children in my own neighborhood. As I walked into the classroom, I was immediately stuck by the noise. Sounds resonated from every corner of the room in discordant refrain, inflecting a deafening blow on my still-waking ears. “Welcome to morning in Pre-K”, I thought. While soaking up the sound, I followed the secretary who had led me to the classroom to meet the classroom teacher. She looked young and kind, the secretary securing this perception with her stamp of approval, “This is Mrs. Davis.…
