The appropriateness of technology must be determined by the grade level and content of the lesson. In an early childhood setting, what can be considered appropriate to child and lesson has to be viewed in-depth. McManis and Gunnewig’s article lists ways that teachers analyze the use of technology in the classroom. One of the topics listed is involved with getting an early childhood education class through presenting the learning in a way students in that area understand. Children in early childhood education are learning is mostly play based as they are still building foundations of their knowledge. The article asks a question, “Are the activities presented in a playlike fashion?” (McManis & Gunnewig, 2004) the question will give the teacher on how they can create learning opportunities through play with technology. The experiment presented in Bird and Edward’s article show how children can use a video camera. The children used the cameras to record their perspectives on learning and use it as a tool for learning. The experiment goes in-depth with how the camera was used in play: epistemic play and ludic
