Assessment is a fundamental component of early childhood education and care. Government documents including EYLF, QKLG, ACARA, and the Code of Ethics recognise the importance of assessment in monitoring and supporting each individual child’s learning and development across all educational settings (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 2009; Early Childhood Australia, 2006; Queensland Studies Authority, 2010; Smidt, 2015). My understanding is demonstrated throughout my curriculum planning process of documenting, analysing, reflecting and implementing, which is supported by Quality Area 1 in the National Quality Framework (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2018).
