I reached Washington D.C. only seven hours after I left Columbia, which meant that I still had half the day to visit. The main reason I stopped here was to visit the monuments. My first stop was the Washington Monument. The monument is a 555 foot marble tower, representing our first president, George Washington. The tower lays behind a giant pool, that is supposed to reflect the monument.…

The poem, “We Alone” more clearly expresses the theme that common things should be considered more valuable. As evidence, in stanza three of “We Alone” it says, “This could be our revolution; to love what is plentiful as much as scarce.” Also, in lines one and seven of “It’s all I have to bring today-” it says, “It’s all I have to Bring today”, and “This, and my heart, and all the Bees”. To explain, the quote from “We Alone” almost directly states the theme in question; when it says to love what is plentiful as much as what is scarce, it shows that the poet believes that plentiful and common things should be on similar ground with scarce things (which tend to be more valuable). The quotes from “It’s all I have to bring today-” show the…

Such as the Readers-Response, which looks at how a reader reacts to a written work throughout a reading. Another exilant strategy would be the Biographical strategy; in this strategy a reader doesn’t merely look at the written work but also takes into consideration the person who wrote the given work. Someone choosing to use the readers-response on the work “Outage” (or any work) might read the story with many personal biases based off how they understand the given scenario or dialogue. Social class, life style, education, religion, and many other factors would also come into play for each individual audience member.…
