Ear mites can live on other parts of a pet’s body; although, the ear canals are the most obvious. Ear mites are the most common cause of ear infections in both cats and dogs, under the age of six- months old. However, ear mites are unusual in adult dogs.
Dogs with built up ear wax and epidermal debris presents a breeding ground for ear mites to feast. The build-up in the ear causes inflammation, which in turn triggers the body to produce even more wax.
