. The ear is made up of three parts: the outer, middle, and inner ear.The outer part of the ear collects sound. Sound travels through the auricle and the auditory canal, a short tube that ends at the eardrum. Sound entering the outer ear travels through the middle ear and causes the eardrum and ossicle in the middle ear to vibrate. As it travels, it amplifies and changes from air to liquid. When the stapes moves, it pushes the oval window, which then moves the cochlea. The cochlea takes the fluid vibration of sounds from the surrounding semi-circular ducts and translates them into signals that are sent to the brain by nerves like the vestibular nerve and cochlear nerve. The deaf patient usually having problem with the eardrum, ossicles and Eustachian tube. They tend to have torn eardrum but it is not usually serious and often heals on its own without any complications but it may cause hearing loss, in which case a small procedure to repair it is an option or scarred eardrum that usually happens due to repeated perforation. Another type of perforated eardrum is Tympanic Membrane Perforation. Infection or trauma may resulting the tympanic membrane perforation or physically we can say there is a hole in the ear as the sound vibrations are not effectively captured by the perforated ear drum. Usually the patient with the perforated ear drum will go through a tympanoplasty, which is the surgical repair of the ear drum performed by an otolaryngologist. Cholesteatoma was one of the abnormal things happen to the eardrum that can cause deafness. Cholesteatoma look like a tumour but it is actually a benign collection of skin that cause destruction to the other middle ear structures. This may occurred when the ear drum collapses or the outer skin of the ear drum grows into the middle ear and becomes trapped at one point. The middle ear system can also be affected if problems occurred or affected the Eustachian tubes. The dysfunction of Eustachian tube might causing not just eardrum but ossicles to become damaged. For example poor Eustachian tube can cause Otitis media or Middle Ear Fluid. Eustachian tube was supposed to connect the middle ear to the nasal passage but if the Eustachian tube is in poor condition, the inability to ventilate the middle ear space happened and it will filled with fluid resulting the hearing
