I wake up to the sound of my dad's voiced yelling “come on get up” i look at my phone its only 6:00 AM… on a saturday morning. I should be out doing something better than this i think to myself, It's cold out, i don't wanna be here,i hope this ends soon eleven years wow i’ve missed out on so much i wish i never joined up.. I've been in scouting since i was in 1st grade started from the bottom at a tiger cub and now eleven years later i've made it to the top becoming an eagle scout. The journey wasn't always smooth sailing though, when i was younger i didn't have much care about what i did with my free time and if scouts interfered with it meetings where thursday nights 6:30-8:00 we built fires learned first aid and how to read a map and compass,…
1. The Appalachian Trail Club members are punctilious volunteers who “[maintain] the trail and its markers” and sacrifice their time to reward the hikers. 2. The Appalachian Trail “meanders through fourteen states” proving this is a winding trail traversing from one mountain to the other.…
It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…
My project is located at the Viola Soccer Field. I will lead my troop to scrape and paint the building and the benches. We will also replace the railroad ties around the building, and then put up the new sign. Once we place the sign, we will plant trees around the sign to make the field look…
To whom it may concern, April 9th, 2018 I, Patrick Coleman, am writing this out my own free will and On my Honor, as a scout, I am writing this truthfully and to the best of my knowledge. Last week, during our scout meeting, we played a 20 minute game of manhunt. While we were playing, I witnessed Tristan Stoltz fall. Afterwards, he had accused Steven of pushing him. Now, while seeing Tristan fall, there was no evidence of Steven pushing him.…
The organization that I will be teaming up with to help me execute my project will be the Northwest Arkansas Salvation Army Area Command. The Salvation Army is a well-known organization around the world. Most of you will be familiar with the Salvation Army because they are the ones ringing the bells with the red kettles around Christmas time. The Salvation Army has helped and changed many lives around the world. The Salvation Army does more than just ring bells around Christmas time.…
I attend a small high school,Coosa High School, which is in Rome, Georgia. I love my school, but I also love the community that surrounds my school. Over the past three years I have been at Coosa High School, an issue came to my realization. Coosa High School is a Title 1 school, meaning that Coosa has a high percentage of children from low-income families, because of that my school is provided with financial assistance to ensure all students reach their goals. Due to the fact that Coosa is a Title 1 high school, the amount of students that receive free and reduced lunch is rather high.…
Friona has many unique events that distinguish us from the many other bijou towns all around it. There’s the cheeseburger festival, which, being the “cheeseburger capital of the Texas”, is a must. They have Maize Days to celebrate their community’s people and businesses. And then there’s Friona High School’s own Chieftain Challenge that, like its name states, challenges its students. The Chieftain Challenge began with a couple of students trying to come up with a good idea for their Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) project.…
For many years Ijams Nature Center has been a beloved park. The Ijams family first offered Girl Scout camps back in 1923 and thousands of individuals and groups visited this special place during the 1920s through the 1970s. Since the 1980s, nearly every school-aged child in Knoxville and its surrounding counties has come to Ijams on a field trip. Hundreds of children have attended summer camp and learned to love and care for the earth. Thousands of visitors walk our trails annually and come to learn during our owl prowls and woodcock walks, or to simply enjoy a day in a beautiful park—all just minutes from downtown Knoxville.…
Except, this time the volunteers were asked to help at the GBMS Color Guard Club. I had treasured the minute amount of time I spent with the rising ninth graders that I thought it would be crazy for me not to help. We started out with a few volunteers from Grassfield coming to help out but around the second month it was just me, Chris and Donny. The club taught over 100 girls and boys the basics of spinning a flag, marching in step together and at the end of the club, a routine. This routine was performed during “middle school night” at Great Bridge High School where the middle schoolers took the field and spun and played their instruments like a high school marching band.…
Volunteering at Veterans Affairs Medical Center was one of the greatest experience I've ever had. Sitting down with the elderly and getting to know them, I noticed if more teens could actually sit down and take the time to talk to an elderly person they could gain an opulent amount of knowledge. Sitting down and getting to talk an innumerable amount of veterans as I could, I was intrigued by how each person had a story of their own going through WWII. Voluntarily, I was able to contribute to the organization by having open conversations with the veterans, providing beverages, and having a great time. It wasn't till the end of the program when my perception began to change about the organization I volunteered for, it's more than just about kids…
The Civilian Conservation Corps sent 250,000 young men to work camps to perform reforestation and conservation tasks. This removed surplus of workers from cities, provided healthy conditions for boys, and provided money for families. [ (New Deal Programs) ] With the creation of this program President Roosevelt brought together the nation’s young men and the land in an effort to save them both. [ (Civilian Conservation Corps CCC) ]…
It is a source of great pride and joy to compose this Eagle Scout letter of recommendation for my son Davis Hunter, who is hoping to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Davis is a reliable and trustworthy person as evidenced by the way he lives his life. He carries out his daily activities with honesty and integrity. I have known him to always be an individual who is loyal, courteous and friendly to all, who takes his duty to his community very seriously. He has become a natural leader who is a hard worker both at home, at church, in the community and at his school.…
Lifestyle Project The aim of the research project is to investigate and evaluate the roles of three different organisations and their contributions to the community. To investigate the organisations, three key questions were prepared. The three chosen organisations are the Stradbroke Scout Group, Vertical Reality Climbing and National Pharmacies. Through their main websites, the address, phone number and emails of each organisations were gathered to be contacted and if possible, interviewed.…
It was March of 2015 that Dan and I decided to make our first camping trip of the year. This particular road trip was not like the many others we have pursued. When we arrived, we were led by the event staff of Hoopla in the Hills to an open field. We pitched our tent and canopy in the breezy ice cold morning. We hung beautiful tapestries on the canopy for a secluded yet magical hangout spot.…
