Three of the students have behavioral issues while five of the students are always ahead and following classroom expectations. For the students who can follow the school and classroom expectations and stand out from the other students, they will receive a red rewards card. The reward cards are drawn on Thursdays for students to pick a prize from the school cabinet. For the students who need to be reminded of classroom and school expectations, anchor charts are posted all over the classroom and the hallways. The students are given one chance to fix any negative behavior they have or classroom expectation they are breaking. If the student continues to keep the negative behavior, they will clip down. For the students who clip down they have to correct the bad behavior in order to move the clip back up. For example, if a student is being disrespectful and talking over others and clip down, they will have to prove they can be respectful of others before they clip up. They cannot clip up for being the first one ready for the next subject. Also, if the students in the class can go an entire Monday through Friday without having a student end the day on any color lower than green they will have a reward

Token economies reinforce desired behavior through the delivery of tokens or chips that can be exchanged for back-up reinforcers in the way of desired objects or privileges. In a token economy, there are three major elements: There must be a specific list of clearly defined target behaviors; tokens or points must be identified; and there must be a list of backup reinforcers or items for which the saved tokens can be exchanged (Miltenberger, 2012). In preparing to implement the token economy, six basic steps, as follows, must be followed in order to ensure success: identify tokens, identify behaviors, select back-up reinforcers, establish the exchange ratio, establish procedures for dispensing and exchanging tokens, and field test the system…

I feel that there are behavioral issues in this class when Dr. Logue is not present. When Dr. Loge is not here, many people watch videos on their iPads that are not related to their school work. They watch these videos while wearing headphones. Also when Dr. Logue is not here, the class gets very chatty and way to loud a lot of times and despite being told to quite down by Miss Helena, kids start talking to loudly within a couple minutes. I feel that people do get their work done that is assigned by Dr. Logue, but once they are finished it sort of seems like a free for all at times and kids don't know how to control themselves.…

This chapter discusses behavioral and social theories of Ivan Pavlov and B. F. Skinner. The theory of classical conditioning by Pavlov explains that we develop a new behavior based on the association we make with the things we interact with, for example; when a child has a painful experience at the dentist he is going to exhibit certain behavior when he comes back for a second visit. In other words, the child responds to a stimulus by exhibiting certain behaviors such as aggressiveness, cry, fear, stress, and anxiety. On the other hand, Skinner argues that operant conditioning deals with the role that pleasant and unpleasant consequences play in our behavior. He believes that behavior is controlled by the environment we live in.…

Another form of positive reinforcement that a school administrator can do to promote students’ participation in the classroom, especially to secondary students, is to give praise to the student who actively answers the questions that are raised in class and ask questions regarding to the lesson. The school administrator does not only praise the student for doing the right thing, which is participating in class, but also indicates to the other students of what the expected behavior is. Using verbal praise is a subtle but incredibly effective way to let students know what is expected of them throughout the day. The school administrator can also reward extra credits as treats for the student who participate in the lesson. Negative reinforcement can also be used to keep students engaged in class.…
