ERAU Honors Program Analysis

I would love to be a part of the ERAU Honors Program for a multitude of reasons. I feel that the Honors Program is something akin to another door being opened in a long line of opportunities in life. Firstly, I should note that I have, for a long time, found myself in an endless pursuit of knowledge. However, I have yet to be able to quell my love for learning, and I can think of no opportunity superior to the Honors Program at Embry-Riddle to continue this. With the extensive lecture series offered through the Honors Program, both from faculty and third parties, I would be able to continuously and passionately pursue a more complete and comprehensive knowledge of the world. As an Honors student, I work hard for the grades I earn and study for hours. In my free time I try to do as much as I can for anyone else. Working hard for my goals may come along with a challenge, but I can overcome anything as long as I put my mind to it. Over the summer, I found myself taking care of someone else’s pets and house.…

The Honors College at Auburn is designed to challenge the students that have showed academic excellence in their high school careers. The college should help students think more openly about the problems in today’s world, and lets face it, they are numerous. With the help of professors, the students in the Honors college should be able to pinpoint the source of a particular problem as well as the solution. I am not saying that the students will change the world with their way of thinking, but the students will be taught perspective. This type of thinking can only be mimicked in a challenging environment with people who are pushing each other to be better.…

A person needs to represent all four pillars to uphold the honor of National Honor Society, just like a table with four legs must balance a table. When I decided to make a career change two years ago and pursue a graduate degree, I was very much interested in applying for the American Studies program at Columbia. What attracted me to the program was the interdisciplinary approach of American Studies as developed under the auspices of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race. American Studies not only involves the intersection of history and literature -- which are among my primary interests -- but it is also a field that promotes the confluence and integration of multiple areas of study (ethnography, economics, and political science, etc.) In other words, what appeals to me about American Studies is that it avoids the insularity of the more established areas of the humanities…
