Currently, I am one of the EOP New Student Mentor. As a mentor, I have a lot of responsibilities. For example, one of my responsibilities is to communicate effectively with each of my mentees. This academic Year, I have 25 mentees from different background (ethnicity) I have mentees from Vietnam, China, Japan and Latino Students, which is awesome because we are able to learn a lot from our cultures and languages. Additionally, the biggest responsibility I have is to create lesson plan and activities that are designed to not only help my mentees academically, but also personally. This academic year of 2015-2016, I am taking only upper division classes and in other to be consider for graduation and graduate school, I must pass all my classes with a grade greater than a “C”. I dedicate a lot of my time to school and to the EOP mentoring position. Currently, I am creating my own reader (workbook with activities) for the EOP mentoring job. I am responsible for every class assignment that is given to me. Every day, I have to measure that I do my readings for class discussions, quizzes and writing assignments, which require plenty of responsibility. Another of my school responsibility to be present in each of my classes because I do not like to miss any material that is instructed in class. One of the main responsibility is to a strong communication with my professor, because if I do not understand the material, there are my main choice to obtain help from. Also, to step out of my comfort zone. Now I am more social with people and I am really strict when it comes to the point that students are not doing their requirements or responsibilities. I can communicate effectively and instead of judging students for their actions, I try to provide solutions that may lead to the solution of the problem.
