EOF Peer Tutor Analysis

Decent Essays
The reason why I want to be an EOF peer Tutor is because I would like to help the new incoming students with improving their math skills. As I saw last year for the summer program there were students that had trouble in math and a lot of them came to me after class asking me for help. With the tutor position I can be in the classroom with the students and I can help with them like before. Also if i'm in the classroom with them then I would know better on what they are struggling in and what teaching method is best for the students.

One of my skills are mathematics because my major is mathematics I believe that I have some skills in it. I have great communication skills so I can connect with the students more. I am honest. I would not lied

My junior year in high school, I became a student mentor in our campus’s peer counseling program. This was an incredibly rewarding experience as I had the opportunity to help freshman students assimilate into our high school dynamic. As a peer mentor, I assisted students with personal problems and mediated issues with teachers in order to maximize their learning experience. I also acted as a role model for my mentees by talking frequently about AP and Honors courses and how to be successful in such programs. I put effort into learning about each individual's interests and goals so that I could expose them to clubs and academic courses that they may appreciate such as the Biomedical Academy or our school’s robotics team.…

The Success Profiler showed some aspects of myself that I had no idea about. The main parts that are focused from the personal skills map is decision making, time management, sales orientation, and physical wellness. My lowest personal skill would have to be decision making because of how I act when I am put to a decision making position. When I am asked to make a decision I tend to take a long time an example of this is creating a wish list I look into all possible items and combinations.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

The things that I'm good inside of school is math because I find it very easy to work with numbers, and solve problems that include numbers in it. I am also good at Biology because I find the topic very interesting because I like learning about how our bodies works, and how our body is harmed by things around us. Another thing that I feel like I'm good at doing is reading, because I feel like when I'm reading a book, or story I can picture it clearly, and feel like I'm in the story. One of my strengths is that once I start doing something I can't stop till I accomplish it or am satisfied with the work that I have done or the effort that I have put. Something I'm good at doing outside of school is playing video games because I like doing…

I do not have direct experiences enforcing rules pertaining to living standards and community norms, and I have limited experience directly addressing disruptive behavior. However, I am certain that based on the experiences that I have had and my qualities as a leader and a problem-solver will help me meet the demands of the job. For example, during all four years of my high school I served as a Peer Mediator to address fights and disputes between two students. During the lunch hour, my partner and I would go to the Head of Security’s office to help the students who had been detained by the securities. My partner and I would help these students come to an agreeable resolution that if they both accepted would allow them to avoid school disciplinary…

In my peer evaluation, the reader clearly stated the thesis statement, therefore it was a clear statement of the subject and purpose. The reader listed exactly all of my major points in the paper also. One thing that was pointed out in my paper was that contractions were used. Sometimes I get in the habit of just typing fast and forget, so I went through and corrected the few that I messed up on. Other than that, the reader for my peer evaluation obviously did not read through my whole paper, as that was all she said.…

An aspect of my character that I did not perceive as a strength, until this mock interview role play, stood as my integrity. My group discussed how honesty stands critical in a job interview. It does not benefit an interviewee to deceive the interviewer, as it creates a forged image. While it does stand essential to make yourself sound like a respectable candidate, lying to better your chances of acquiring the position does not symbolize integrity. Introduction The time I spent with my student during our tutoring sessions gave me a first-hand experience of how it is like on a student to teacher level. I learned a lot from my student, Kade, as I hope he also learned from me. During this time, I was able to observe his strengths and his weakness. I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities.…
