A lot of the times people think that EMR and EHR are the same things because both of them hold record of medical files. Although the start of the journey of EMR and EHR have the same similarity toward the end of the road of its destination it is not the same. So what is the difference in EMR and HER? A EMR is an electronic version of charting a patient medical record and it contain all the information about the patient from medical record, doctor visit and many more. An EMR is very limited and can only be use inside the medical facility. While an EHR on the other hand, have all the functionality of EMR and is capable of doing even more than an EMR. It comes equip with the ability to access the health care records and lab results, request prescription refills, and communicate with other doctors. They are built to go beyond the health care facility and is able to share important documents to other health care provider.
