ELCC Standard 1 Summary

ELCC Standard 1 As an educational leader I must work with all stakeholders to facilitate the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that everyone believes. I must have and believe in my personal vision for the school before I can lead others to share my vision. ELCC 1.1. In my Ethical Leadership class, one assignment was to prepare a vision for my future school. I understand that a vision should promote success for all students. My vision included major learning goals. I want to intentionally and positively invite all learners to discover their fullest potential academically and socially. I understand that a positive learning environment must be provided with the understanding that student diversity is to be respected. In order for this to take place I must work collectively with other administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to foster a life-long desire for students to learn. A collective vision allows for others suggestions and ideas that are beneficial for the students. Though sometimes it may be difficult to agree there must be a common goal. Data was collected in this element to use for identifying school goals and to create and implement a plan to achieve these goals, from our 2014 school year. Math and literacy scores were charted for the number of students that are basic and below basic by grade level. A school-wide plan (Response to Intervention) was developed, based on the collected data that could possibly be implemented for the students who seemed unresponsive to effective instruction delivered by teachers. Implementation of the plan would allow low performing students a chance at academic success. The plan included training staff members properly in the process before implementation, using researched based interventions, providing on-going evaluations, and involving parents and community members so that teachers and students will be
