EHR Transition: Decrease In Clerical Position

An aggressive plan was implemented regarding a decrease in staff a year before the EHR transition occurred, Clerical positions were transitioned to higher-level, more technical roles. (E.g. Medical record assistances are now scanning-related roles.) Transition required minimum training; existing staff were urged to take classes to build up the expertise set important to work with the new innovation.
I learned that not everything in a paper file would be migrated into the EHR. Scanning and entering information on upcoming follow-up patients, working on returning patient records a few days prior to their appointment, scan the information for that patient so determination essential for their care. Nurses enter allergies and medications only
