Life is all about relationships. Leadership also is about the relationship - how a leader relates to people around him to influence them. Biblical leadership adds another dimension to leadership by operating on a different level of relationship. Biblical leaders are a different kind of leaders because of how they relate to God and people. First, they willingly admit that they are the followers before they are leaders. They obediently put themselves under the authority of God and his word and follow the greatest leader ever lived, Jesus Christ, who was a different kind of leader and a leader like no other.

Are we humble in spirit or conceited? Are our attitude and actions reflect the love of Christ and bring others draw closer to God? Douglas Fagerstrom has it right when he states in his book, “The ministry staff member,” “You only have one chance to make a first impression, often an impression is the mold to which others will conform.” As staff members it is imperative that our performance is at a standard worthy of following. Paul in 1 Corinthians encouraged believers to “follow my example, as I follow Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1 NIV). Our goal should be clear.…

Scripture is full of different qualities that a leader should possess but there are a few in particular that stick out. A Christian leader is someone who is imitable and who's actions deserve to be imitated. In 1 Corinthians 4:16 it states, "Therefore I urge you to imitate me," (New International Version 1984) and this leads you to believe that a leader should always live an imitable life. Christian leaders also have integrity. They can be trusted and expected to be honest.…

Charismatic Service: A Leadership Philosophy At the heart of any worthwhile leadership is a genuine concern for the well-being of those who are being led. Although this statement is true for any leadership style to be sustainably effective, it is particularly necessary for my personal philosophy when considering my values, beliefs and worldview. As a Reformed Christian and educational leader, the words of 1 Peter 4:10 express, very succinctly, the rule that characterizes my approach to leadership.…

This means that if one’s concept of a worthy leader is one that always fulfil their specific desire, that person is bound to be disappointed. The good leader seek the best of the ‘all’. This was the difference between Moses and the rebels. They seek to be exalted for their own benefit while God wanted a leader who would listen completely to him because they had the best interest of the community at heart. Unity was important for the people of God, and all must be submissive to unity- unity that is generally beneficial to all.…

I have to agree with you, Gina. Integrity and focus play an enormous role; also the individual's responsibility and ethic. There is no doubt that a leader needs to be self-aware that the followers are always looking up to them. As mentioned in the same video that you quoted, from David Dunaetz and found in the textbook, the perception of their leadership highly depends on the outcome of their desitions. If the leader doesn't have that understanding it can be prejudicial for their image.…

The Different Approaches of Nursing Leaders and Managers to Nurse Turn-Over “Nursing turnover is a major issue impacting the performance and profitability of healthcare organizations. Healthcare organizations require a stable, highly trained and fully engaged nursing staff to provide effective levels of patient care” (Hunt, 2009, p. 2). In order to prevent nurse turnover rates in healthcare facilities, one must understand why it is occurring to create change. Many nurses are hired into positions having high expectations and once they realize it’s not what they thought it was going to be, they quit their job causing increased costs and workload for the remaining working nurses (Hunt, 2009). This can be prevented by manager’s truly showing…

In conclusion, faithfulness, wisdom, and courage were three strong Biblical traits that were exhibited in the strong leaders with a Biblical world view. Cultural influences, along with a lack of Biblical authority, affected the way leaders viewed the world, giving them a worldly view instead of a Biblical worldview. A Biblical leader needed to trust in God, especially when challenges came their way. Without a strong leader in place, weaknesses began to bleed through and chaos occurred. “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers” (Proverbs 11:14, NIV).…

In my reading of Business leadership: A Jossey-Bass reader, I learned a new concept. Leadership and management are different (Kotter, 2008). The opening sentence of chapter one hit me like a ton of bricks. I worked for a Fortune 500 Company in various capacities from the assembly line to lower management before I accepted God’s call into ministry. I have read many books on leadership, yet, for reasons unknown to me, the revelation of leadership and management being two differing activities never penetrated my psyche.…

Howell expresses a wonderful truths in “Servant to Servant” and he states, “Jesus trained leaders who could endure suffering because they expected lasting fruit to come from their labors and because they believed that beyond their sacrifices awaited a glorious kingdom” . Jesus gives us a great example of a leader; through his message, missions, and ministry. True leadership was about being a servant to those in need and representing the Gospel not in terms of who is in charge, but rather in how each person carries out his or her role and common purpose in the missionary field . My followers can expect that I will treat them all as equals. I will take into consideration everyone’s opinions, and my followers can expect that I will always choose the decision that is going to benefit the majority of the group. I would now define a leader as someone who guides a person or group of people to work toward a common goal, or even just a person that positively influences others. If I were to choose one skill that I want to continue growth in my leadership development it would be influencing others effectively and appropriately. This skill can never reach its full potential and thus I want to continue to positively…

Compare & Contrast Leadership Styles In our text, Leadership is defined as “An area of study marked by the examination of the behaviors of others” (p.378). After reading about the three styles of leadership which are transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, I instantly thought about a scripture which says “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2-3, New International Version). Before I start uncovering the similarities between theses three leadership styles, I’m going begin by defining…
