How I plan to teach Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students, is to use what I have learned in EDU 305 as a guideline to apply what has been taught in class and use it for my students in the future. Ideally, I would like to teach at high school level in South Korea. I also find that helping CLD students who are learning English as their second language also fits for what I plan for the future. “I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

Experience is the best teacher that’s what I was always taught when it came to my education. During my high school years I experienced an overcrowded, understaffed, high school that many could not learn in. Students disrespecting teachers and teachers not trying to deliver their lessons because of the uncontrollable classes. Everyone deserves to be able to obtain an education, but what educational warrior will it take to have that profound effect on students to help that take place. Someone dedicated, and loving wiling to go above and beyond to deliver exceptional guidance to their students.…

I left high school tired and confused. Having my whole life desired one thing and pursued one love – a love for the art and science of literature, for inkblots on bare paper, for the destruction of the pristine with the flawed beauty of the written word – I was wasted, rendered exhausted by the pressures under which I forced myself to toil for four long years. I had lost my way, stumbling off a path I once knew so well, weighed down by my wide array of interests, terrified to commit to one and be glued to it, riddled with regret, for the rest of my life. Feeling trapped, I regarded the list of schools to which I had been accepted, selected one I believed covered all bases, and, throwing up my hands, I entered undeclared.…

Overall, CI 201 was a very beneficial class for me to take in my journey towards becoming a teacher. One big takeaway I have from this class is to be innovative with technology and to use it to do things that would be difficult to do without using technology, rather than using it just to use it. I think this will be very important for me to keep in mind as I start my teaching career because as the amount of technology available to students increases, I will have to think of ways to use it in my classroom that will make learning the different content both engaging and effective for my future students. I learned many different technological tools that I have learned will be beneficial to use in my future classroom. One project that I really enjoyed…
