This lesson is created based on the objective of students determining the meaning of a word that is from their vocabulary words. I was able to design a lesson that is development appropriate for this grade level. The students were exposed to learning experiences through whole group, small group, and parent activities. These activities allowed the students to be engaged cognitively, linguistically, and socially. This lesson plan illustrates my ability to meet this standard because of the design of the lesson plan. I was in my pre-internship in a 4th grade classroom. The management plan details how a safe and respectful classroom can be achieved while also discussing the overall management of behavior in the classroom. This management plan illustrates my ability to meet this standard because it provides a sample of the techniques that I used in this classroom. I recorded the methods that my mentor used throughout the classroom that I learned and used along with her. The management plan explain how behavior is managed through a clip chart and buzz cards. Also with negative reinforcement, when he asks more than six questions in a day, we can give no homework or reduce one homework for everybody in the class (in order to avoid inequality in the class), which increases his participation in class. Also, if his school ended at 2:00pm, the teacher can dismiss his/her students at 1:40 by reducing 20 mins of class time. Overall, all this punishments and reinforcement are done for eliminating the unwanted behaviors and learning new positive…

Other students can see and recognize and learn from each other's behaviors and learn what the consequences are. A good example used in the chapter was if students are placed in time out due to misbehaving with each other. Students are placed very close to each other and given a goal of working out their differences. What I liked about this is that the timeout was for both parties and both parties had to figure out a plan to behave better and have a discussion about their actions. Use of operant conditioning and behavioral analysis in the classroom can help manage different behaviors in the classroom when used…

As I started my journey at Cal Baptist University in the fall of 2014 I was excited to start working on a degree that would help me accomplish what I wanted to do in the future, my counselor had registered me for my first classes with the early childhood program. I can still remember the day that I first went to orientation for a transfer students, since I had previously went to a community college I was able to get most of my general education classes out of the way and start to focus on the core classes of my degree. As I walked on campus with my mom I felt very welcomed and was able to truly feel like I belonged at the school. As I walked around the campus with my counselor for a tour I could feel that Spiritual feeling that I have been longing to have. It was almost as if I was in the right place…

These five domains consist of physical, cognitive, language, emotional, and social learning. My lesson plans start with objectives in mind when meeting all these developmental domains. My goal is to create activities that encourage a child to identify what the lesson involves, discuss openly the child’s perspective, deduce the content of the lesson, and apply the knowledge learned. I also believe that all children need the opportunity to make their own choices, even the choice to participate in learning. With this in mind, planning activities to keep the children engaged is of great importance to me.…

In the beginning of this semester, I remember what a nervous wreck I was and how much pressure was put on me. Attending my second semester at UNC Charlotte on academic probation was not my first intention whenever I moved to the city of Charlotte and made the new commitment of attending a four year university. Whenever I was told that I needed to attend a class two times a week so I wouldn’t be kicked out of school, I felt nothing but shame and frustration. I was certain whenever I mentioned to my parents and my girlfriend that I was on academic probation, they would be ashamed of me.…

Therefore, the teacher must keep in mind the negative behavior that cannot occur the same time as the positive behavior. One example of finding the incompatibility of behavior is sitting at the desk vs. wandering in the classroom. When the student is reinforced of the positive behavior they are supposed to be doing at the given time, they will have a positive behavior to act upon replacing the negative behavior. It is also important to know the student and take notes of the types of reinforcement inadvertently received when ding the problem behavior. Hence, it is like trial and error to figuring out what kind of reinforcement would work best for the student to achieve the desired…

My goal is to create a plan to teach and organize a classroom equipped to create a fun, safe, and motivational learning environment for pre-k students. My first thought is how one grasps the minds of this young age group of students through classroom management. The room has to be age appropriate, very attractive and inviting to the students. “Classroom management is a set of procedures and systems that are put in place to create an environment that focuses on students learning”. In order for classroom management to work, educators need to know the reasoning for classroom management.…

Although I did have some lessons that were not that successful I found this to be my most successfully applied plan and activity. I credit this to my choice of using direct instruction as I felt it was appropriate and worked effectively with the class I was teaching. Research has found that direct instruction has the ability to, increase motivation, is an appropriate method for knowledge attainment and assisted in closing the knowledge gap between students (Glogger-Frey, et al. 2015 p. 83).…

I started out my college career as a psychology major, but I plan to graduate with an education degree, and fulfill my dream of teaching children. Throughout this semester I have learned many different things about teaching that will stick with me my entire career. I learned about the teaching and learning process through the course work I was given, the time I spent in the classroom teaching lessons, as well as the times that I sat back and just observed the preschool and elementary classrooms.…

Classroom management is crucial for every teacher to have in a successful learning environment. I believe that students need to be controlled and disciplined; students at this age need to be guided in the right path. They are capable of self-discipline but need to be shown what the rules of the classroom are and what is the expectation of the teacher. I believe that students are basically good but that the environment around them influences them tremendously. If they maintain busy with instruction then they will not have time to be disruptive and they need to be guided to behave appropriately.…

Lesson planning is a highly important part of teaching. Lesson plans are a teacher’s guide in his or her class room. They outline the learning goals and objectives for a particular lesson or chapter; they may also include the activity the teacher has planned and the supplies they will need to help the students complete that assignment. During my field placement I have yet to see my cooperating teacher plan out her lessons for the week, but it is clear she has a lesson plan. She usually has a lecture planned out for each day and she uses the textbook to outline the students learning objectives.…

Having an effective lesson plan should be one of the most important things that every teacher should strive to have. When teachers have an effective lesson plan it provides them with a guide for teaching a lesson. This allows for the least amount of distractions because having a lesson plan keeps teachers on track. It also allows for teachers to track students’ progress. Teachers can also set and achieve goals that they want their child students to learn by writing it down in their lesson plans.…
