Wedel's International Marketing Strategy

E.Wedel is the oldest chocolate factory in Poland. The company and the brand of a chocolate and confectionery manufacturer created in 1851 by Karol Wedel, a German confectioner and entrepreneur. From 2010, the company's co-owner is the Japanese-Korean LOTTE Group. In 1845 in Warsaw next to Piwna street 12 in Warsaw, in the bakery of Karol Gronhert, Karol Wedel began with his way to the first Polish chocolate factory. In 1865, because of the popularity of confectionery the company has to be moved to the bigger building next to Szpitalna street in Warsaw. The last location of the company until now is in Kaminok, which was built from 1927-1931. Wedel’s products gained popularity in the entire middle Europe, especially chocolate and candies. In the bigger Australian cities such as Melbourne or Sydney people would have to try some of the sweets to know the taste and finally to convince whether they should buy it or not. Australians originally have preference in the confectionery products made by Australian companies. That would be a challenge for E.Wedel to overtake some of them in order to persuade Australian citizens to try something Polish from Europe. E.Wedel would have to claim its originality and duration of production their products in order to show that their company is one of its kind. People would also pay a lot of attention to the prices (the cheaper the product the more interest it can gain at least by the quantity sold). The other barrier for the advertising E.Wedel in Australia could be the permission from the government for disseminating their specialties there.
