The next day he went out and made a trail from the forest to his house with Reese's Pieces. The alien follows the trail and Elliot is able to lead him into the house where he hides him in his closet. He decides to name the alien E.T. After a couple days of faking sick to stay home with E.T., Elliot decides to show E.T. to his brother, Michael. While doing so, Elliot's little sister, Gertie bursts in. Together they decide to keep his existence a secret and work to teach E.T. how to speak. When he learns, he tells them that he needs to "phone home". The boys, since Gertie is too young, help him to assemble pieces that he can use to build a device that can transmit a signal to his people. They get him out into the forest where they set it up and Elliot falls asleep. When he awakens, E.T. is nowhere to be seen. Elliot returns home to his frantic mother and sends Michael out to find them. When he leaves, Michael finds that there have been government agents watching them and they want E.T. He eventually loses them and gets E.T. home. The only problem is, E.T. is deathly ill-and so is Elliot. Mary, their mother, finds Elliot and E.T. in the bathroom and tries to take her kids

The plot is not realistic in “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” because the aliens mess with the power, and the cars, Tommy’s mom did not take him home when everyone started to get irrational, and they assumed it was monsters messing with everything. To begin this story is not realistic because I do not believe aliens are real.…
