The Role of the E.C.E
ADHD is usually diagnosed very young, in this case at 7 years old. Allowing Early Childhood Educators to set the framework for how to manage behavioral and learning complications and the self-perceptions on why they are the way they are. Having ADHD can be extremely frustrating for Stefan. Not fitting in, unable to do things the other children are doing, supports are needed to promote healthy child development. Along with Stefan’s family, Nicholas and Ava, they are also affected by the ADHD diagnosis. This section will discuss what strategies the E.C.E can use to maximize the learning experience with Stefan and some resources for his family to implement support and engage them in his development without physically and

Wellbeing: Every child is developing a sense of self, health and wellbeing. (How Does Learning Happen, 2014). Early childhood experiences have a major impact on future mental health and well being. In Stefan’s case it looks like his educators and peers have been accommodating for him but are not respecting and finding ways to support him and his “varied physiological and biological rhythms and needs for active play (How Does Learning Happen, 2014)”. According to Ontario’s Pedagogy ways to foster health and well-being, “designing environments that are attuned to children’s varied focused and alert states” Giving Stefan the freedom to fidget will help him focus in his environment. Reaching out to families and helping them make connections to formal supports (How Does Learning Happen, 2014). This will assist in the family centered strategy to keep updated in the field of ADHD and help reduce the stressful, challenging circumstances that Nicholas and Ava are currently experiencing. Recognizing and supporting children’s developing and varied self-regulation (How Does Learning Happen, 2014). Make sure you are organizing work and lessons to suite Stefan’s learning for him to reach his full potential, sense of self and overall
