Throughout the day, lots of water is consumed without thinking of all the bacteria that could be in the water. Most would believe that purified bottled water would be the best choice. Are people really taking the time that they need to make sure all the harmful substances that might be in the water are gone? E-coli is one of many harmful bacteria in water, therefore, the testing for the presence of E. coli in different water samples was performed.
In this project, water samples gathered from water fountains around the school and two water bottle brands were tested. Coliform cult tests were performed, testing for E. coli in the water. Also, water test strips were used to test for total alkalinity, free chlorine, pH, total hardness (amount of calcium carbonate), total chlorine, cyanuric acid, nitrate, nitrite, and bromine. The results came back to be negative for the presence of E. coli in bottled water and school water fountain samples. Also, the 9-way water test strip results for the school fountains were normal for all tests except for pH and chlorine levels. The pH levels were 6.0 in all the school fountain samples, this is considered very low. Before a survivor can even think about purifying water, they first must find an adequate water source. The easiest and safest form of water is bottled water, should there be any unopened bottles left to find. It has already been purified and does not require the following steps. Unfortunately, in the zombie apocalypse there are many other scavengers looking for supplies, so the chances of finding enough, if any, to keep a steady supply are very slim. The only choice left is to find water from other sources.…

Less than one percent of all the water on Earth is drinkable to humans. Considering, then, that the Earth itself is about seventy percent water, even less than one percent is still quite a bit of water to work with; however, it does mean that humans are working with a very limited amount of drinkable water. It is very understandable, then, that contamination of that water should be a cause for concern. It has been found that pharmaceuticals are entering the water as pollutant, and there has been subsequent research involving this phenomena. Through several routes, pharmaceuticals are finding their way into water as a pollutant and impacting the ecosystem.…

    E. Coli Disease Research Analysis When we eat out or consume food we often don 't consider that there may be a risk of contracting illnesses and diseases. As consumers though, we should give this consideration as it’s a very real possibility. Escherichia coli is a natural anaerobic bacteria found in the intestines of animals and humans. However, there are other forms of this bacteria that can cause infections and disease (Laupland et al., 2008).The infectious bacteria can become a food borne pathogen that can cause serious illness in humans who consume tainted food or are exposed to the bacteria in their environment. This bacteria is found in bovine food products, some fresh produce, and contaminated water sources that have been exposed to…
