E. B White Biography

White's up bringing along with his books share a distinct relationship that can be recognized by many. His personality allowed him to create the perfect children's book (Commire). This paper is about E. B. White, his greatest work Charlotte's Web, and what critical evaluators had to say about him and his works White was born on July 11, 1899 in Mount Vernon, New York. There he was the youngest of six children. His parents were Samuel White and Jessica Hart. White was a pointy faced, sharp eared kid. All throughout his life White had low self-esteem with a shy personality (Unger). White's father was the main provider in his family by working as a piano manufacturer (Charlotte’s Web). This in turn, cause white to become a well-rounded piano player at a young age. White had many other talents including riding a bicycle backwards, ice skating, and extraordinary writing skills (Unger). White's writing took control of his life. Wilbur is the main protagonist in the book. He is curious and has a positive outlook on life. He is very immature and can whine throughout the book. Charlotte is a black spider who takes residents and Wilbur's pen. She is an intelligent, mother figure to Wilbur. Charlotte is responsible for saving Wilbur's life. Charlotte is a hard-working and caring individual. She works until she dies so she can lay her eggs and help Wilbur one last time.
