In Animal Farm, George Orwell develops the theme that power corrupts through the allegorical character Napoleon. With presumed leadership in his hands from being intellectual, Napoleon, who represents Joseph Stalin, the dictator of the Soviet Union at the time, rose up to being the dictator of Animal Farm by getting rid of his rival by trained dogs. In the passage it states, “They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws”(Orwell).
