As the United States became more successful in innovation, the government decided to make several contracts with companies. Consequently, the country transitioned from capitalism to socialism. The society’s drive to innovate caused companies to exploit and use up all of Earth’s natural resources, and thus lawmakers looked towards the moon for a solution. Due to the government’s socialized nature, goods are now being produced for practical benefit as opposed to profitable benefit. Because of this, the consumption of goods is less wasteful. With this new government being primarily economically driven, representatives elected from different labor categories become the lawmakers and decision-makers for the country. Additionally, CEO’s dictate both the working and living conditions for their …show more content…
If the Earth were to lose enough of its mass to decrease its density as suggested in the poem, its gravitational pull towards the moon would decrease, which would gradually move the barycenter of the Earth-Moon system away from the Earth. As a result, the Moon’s pull toward the Earth would weaken, and the Moon would slowly drift away from the Earth. In the absence of the Moon, the tides would be more stagnant, making the term “high tide” meaningless. As the Moon’s gravitational pull on the Earth helps keep the Earth’s axial tilt from changing, the Moon’s absence from the Earth’s orbit would cause the planet to “wobble” severely as it revolves around the Sun, causing extreme changes in climate. Though the likelihood of the Earth losing enough mass from fossil fuel extraction to significantly change its density is quite small, the consequences described here could happen.
