One of the challenges I have encountered was dysthymia. I seldom talked to people and preferred isolation. Notwithstanding my reluctance, I had decided to follow my doctor’s advice and meet more people since I understood that connections were essential in this globalized world. During spring break, I volunteered in Gulf of Georgia Cannery as a receptionist and received the opportunity to talk to many strangers. I was responsible for introducing the museum to visitors for six hours straight everyday. Now I am more skilled at communicating with others and resist less to strangers.
