I did not believe the people that told me this, instead I thought that Dyslexia is the horrible gift you get from your great aunt that no matter how hard you try you cannot get rid of. After many years of struggling with Dyslexia, I finally had some perspective to see how the gift of Dyslexia is not all bad. A few months after I was diagnosed, my parents allowed me to start playing golf. This sport taught me patience and helped me find an activity where I could let some energy out after a long day. Unfortunately, by the second page of his essay, he’d lost me. According to Horner, people who have dyslexia, “…think outside the box precisely because [they] have never been in one.…

Counter-Argument: Contrary to my beliefs, some people still think that making sacrifices is totally selfless. One-way that people can think that sacrifice is selfless is by the sacrifier’s intent. If you do not hope for a return and you are truly trying to help the good of the community, and you believe this with your whole heart, then your selflessness is motivated by pure intent rather than a drive to gain status in your community. You can be a vessel of generosity and your feeling is for humanity not yourself. Although others may perceive it as self-serving, they likely lack comprehension of the sacrifier’s intent.…
