The topic of my research is dyslexia and the possible relation of ocular eye movement dysfunction that could contribute to this learning disability. I came across two articles that study this possibility. The first was “Neuropsychological analysis of the difficulties in dyslexia through sensory fusion,” it touches on the process required to read of which there are many. The second is “Evaluation of ocular movements in patients with dyslexia,” and this is a study of how the eye moves when tracking texts for reading. In the next few paragraphs, I will be summarizing the content of both these articles, applying the information gathered to my life, and answering the question of their usefulness in bringing clarity to the topic of dyslexia. In the first article, “Neuropsychological analysis of the difficulties in dyslexia through sensory fusion,” testing was conducted to determine the differences between errors of reading mechanics, reading processes, ocular motility errors, and selective attention within two groups of children that have dyslexia or a reading delay. They use an ex post facto design for the study; this means that it is quasi-experimental in the fact that the groups are not randomly assigned and there is no control group. The two groups are defined as children with reading difficulties that have no altered sensory fusion and children with reading difficulties that have been measured by the optical Worth test for altered sensory fusion. From the findings, there…
