I do not currently stretch, well at least not as much as I should. The main reason that I do not stretch is because I really dont like to. It's really that simple, I mean I know that it is important to do static stretching to warm up and loosen muscles prior and after your workout, but I have survived this long without it. I do warm up exercises prior to my workouts, which include jump rope, stairmaster, bicycle, light jog, row, or swim. I start every exercise routine with 10 minutes of one of those choices, and then move one to my workout routine. I find that those exercises help me get my blood flowing, and my muscles ready for my routine. I do not stretch at the end of my routine either, because my workout is usually followed by 20 minutes …show more content…
A flexibility training program would greatly benefit a professional athlete in his sport. A more flexible athlete is a more mobile athlete, and mobility is an important advantage to a professional soccer player. Flexibility has everything to do with range of motion of the joints and its surrounding musculature. Better joint movement enhances performance and reduces injuries. I think dynamic stretching would greatly benefit a professional soccer play. Dynamic stretch routines can be used prior to a game or a soccer practice. Exercises 5-10 will be done over a 25 yard distance. This mixture of dynamic stretching with specific movements will give the athlete the range of motion and surrounding musculature warm up that it needs to perform at their highest ability, and reduce the risk of injury. I would omit static stretching from Mr. Clint dempseys flexibility training. This is because alot of static stretching is done sitting or standing still. It may stretch specific muscles that are going to be used throughout the match, but it does not warm up and prepare the muscles for the quick contraction and relaxation motions that professional soccer players use all through the game. Static stretching also does not get the body temperature up and blood flowing throughout your muscles. This aspect is very important, because endurance is directly affected by blood circulation and oxygenation. The body needs that increase in temperature and cardiac output to feed the cells of the muscles. A steady supply of oxygen is needed to withstand running for an extended period.
