Pluto has been a dwarf planet since 2006. It turned into a dwarf planet because it is lacking certain details and the orbit around it was not cleared. It is the largest dwarf planet. The second largest planet in the space is Eris. Pluto is also part of the Kuiper belt. Before pluto was a dwarf planet it was once a planet. It was the smallest planet in the solar system. It is in the form of water ice. The planet of pluto actually has more water than the earth's oceans all together. The rest of the Dwarf planet Pluto consist of rock. The surface of Pluto has several mountain ranges. It also has light and dark regions. Pluto also has craters that are scattered all over the dwarf planet. Pluto is smaller than a number of moons, Ganymede, Titan, Callisto, Io, Europa, Triton, and the Earth’s moon are all smaller than Pluto. Pluto has 66% of the diameter of the earth's moon. Another thing about pluto is that it sometimes is has an atmosphere. When Pluto's elliptical orbit takes it closer to the Sun, its surface ice thaws and forms a thin atmosphere primarily of nitrogen which slowly escapes the planet. It also has a methane haze that covers about 161 kilometres above the surface. The methane is dissociated by sunlight into hydrocarbons that fall to the surface and coat the ice with a dark covering, it is also a type of fumes. When Pluto travels away from the Sun the atmosphere then freezes back to its solid state. It orbits around the sun just like the other major planets
