I didn’t know what was coming until it actually hit me. Thick. Dark. Massive. Hurling straight towards me like a huge sea of black dust. Winds exceeding any scale. Plants being ripped up from the ground. Me in a thin blue dress with a dirty apron, hair in a messy bun. Trembling. In two feet was my drafty farm house with the thinnest walls in creation to protect me. Of course I was completely oblivious about what was going to happen. The Dust Bowl. It was here in full force.
