2016-2017 Incorporates Individual Learning Experiences to Prepare Dupree Students for Life

Dupree School District strives to enable students to become socially responsible citizens who are productive and competent lifelong learners. South Dakota Technology and Innovation in Education (TIE) received a grant through the Bush Foundation’s “New Major Investments in Education.” Dupree Junior High and High School have been selected as one of eight Cycle-One schools to be involved with the grant starting with the 2016-2017 school year. Working with a cohort involving eight South Dakota schools provides the opportunity for collaboration and communication to enhance students’ education at Dupree.

Dupree Junior High and High School will design and build a learner agency that promotes lifelong independence and self-efficacy. Grades 7-12 will be involved with altering traditional school structures and processes to support a better learning environment for our community.

The traditional approach to learning involves time as the constant and achievement as the variable. Structured seat time is implemented in scheduled classrooms regardless of individual needs. By changing to a mass customized approach, our educational delivery system at Dupree School will take away the variables that affect all students as a group and replace them with variables that have an

Student led instruction will incorporate research and discovery methods for learning while engage in innovative learning experiences that enhance critical and creative thinking skills. Students will be involved with a more personalized and relevant journey through the education system with different paths and opportunities for learners based on interest and instructional
