The detective genre that Poe had created was changed from the gory origins it was to something that could be shown and acceptable to a younger audience. For example, Dora the Explorer was a detective, but she focused more on exploring and finding clues to solve crimes than on the actual crime solving. It had returned to its roots with serious and gory shows, like CSI: Miami and Law & Order. These shows displayed what the reality of crime solving is really about. These shows let audiences see that cop teams and their departments help solve crimes by working together to catch the criminal. There isn’t a super genius that can swoop in, have all the answers, solve the crime, and case closed. In CSI, the show focuses on going to the lab, getting DNA samples, investigating the crime scene, and interrogating suspects. In CSI, there is a concentration in how detectives proceed in crime scenes where in novels there aren’t these details like people swabbing for DNA or taking pictures of the body. In Law & Order, the show focuses on getting arrest warrants, asking people to testify, getting judge signatures, and working with attorneys. In Law & Order, there is a concentration on the legal side that detectives and police have to deal with in any case that they are presented
