Interleaved practice is also beneficial in sports as well. For example, when playing tennis, if I were to practice only serves the whole practice period, I would get bored and only have improved on one skill. Whereas if I practiced all my skills I would be an all-around better player and perform better

I will first address Kail’s initial reluctance to teach the Latin roots to her students, followed by the experiences that changed her feelings about the activity. I will then apply content from our unit on cognitive processes that enhance learning and explain why I think specific activities Kail used were effective in promoting meaningful learning. The four skill builder concepts that I feel pertained to my experiences this quarter were other-centered messages, initiating conversation, clarifying supportive intentions, and describing feelings. Starting with other-centered messages I feel that I used this skill throughout this quarter. A particular example that comes to mind with my utilizing of this skill is just recently when I had a conversation with my sister, Danielle. My sister Danielle is currently taking a break from classes from BC as the last semester she spent there was very stressful for her, in which she became unsure of what she really wanted to do as well as if the current academic set up is efficient for her. We were in my car when she started discussing with me how she…

This helps me see what main points I need to study and what minor points I can skim over. I used this skill on my last exam and it helped me get a better grade than I expected. Looking at the test questions for clues helps me understand what the question is focusing on so I can remember the exact topic and hopefully pick the correct answer. I have used this skill throughout high school and even in college.…

For example, if I am studying Spanish and I need to remember the Spanish words. I would have to use English words that are similar and that will give me a clue to remember whenever I need to retrieve the information learned. It will improve the way that I encode, store and retrieve by taking the information that I have already learned and relate it to the new information that needs to be learned. And the way that I can store it is by tying it to what I know and the similarities that both information may have in common.…
