Life is not simple. Throughout life, one will suffer, struggle, get hurt and have dreams taken away. Reality is tough, and life is cruel. Yet people always strive to fulfil their dreams and achieve the goals, which they have set upon themselves. There are times, where dreams come true, and then there are times, where they do not. This is all part of life. To fall and stumble, only so that one can arise and be stronger than before and fight harder for what they believe in. However, at times that can seem impossible to a person.
In the short story “Dukwane’s Deliverance”, written by Neil Ramsorrum in 2010, the protagonist Dukwane has been, granted a place in his dream university, however Dukwane is accidentally involved in gang business and

It is, not mentioned whether Dukwane is native English or not, however, the text does indicate, that Dukwane is of African descent, judging by the first name, and as it says in the text, “If Barack can do it, so can I…” ’Later on it goes on as followed, “Well, they’re all loaded and white…” When Dukwane compares himself to Barack Obama, it could indicate that Dukwane has had his fair share of challenges in life, seeing he is a black person, living in a country where the majority are white people. As it says in the text, “…imagining how it would feel to get his own back.” Dukwane has suffered a great loss, by losing the ability to walk, however, once Dukwane decided to keep on fighting for his dreams and attending Cambridge University, he realised that there was hope yet. It says following, “Feeling a twinge in his lower back…” Here Dukwane begins to have doubts about getting revenge, and once he realises revenge will not give im the ability to walk again, he also comes to terms with achieving his dreams
