Duhigg Chapter 4 Summary

• In chapter four, Duhigg demonstrates that the keystone habit of safety used by O’Neill led to success. First, O’Neill fixed Alcoa’s problems of law profit and bad management by focusing on the keystone habit of worker safety which made the stockholder worried.
Second, O’Neill knew that companies relied on organization habit, so he wanted to create a new habit of safety (based on the habit loop) which created small behaviors change. Another keystone habit influence thing advantages into patterns that convince people that bigger achievement one within reach. For example, due to death of an employee, the focus on worker safety created small wins which encouraged workers to be creative key habits are successful because they create new way cultures
