Due Process Vs Crime Control Essay

In examining the similarities and differences between ‘Due Process and Crime Control’; both models are the exact opposites between each other. Due Process focuses on protecting individuals’ rights. Crime Control concerns the community as a whole. Both models have a certain extent where they can only believe what is right between on the individual or as a whole in the community. There are citizens and victims that are willing to see a balance between both models; however, some will neglect the adjustment with the perception. Firstly, due process expressly focuses the protection of the defendant’s rights. To emphasize, their main concern is to limit any evidence that is to be found for the crime. In general, their strategy is to investigate any evidence that can be use upon the case; strategies as to question any false information that may be use against the victims. They want the system to establish the concept to find the truth or the factual guilt of the accused. Crime control believes that the ones that are arrested are proven guilty and should be instantly punished by the government. Surely, they would want to recruit more law enforcements and build more prisons to make it more efficient. As a result, both models are identifying to have similarities and differences between each other. A comparison that can be said for these models is that they are eliminating and reducing crimes. Both models punish those that are guilty and have committed a criminal act. However, both models handle it in a different way of which how they approach the victim in circumstances. To demonstrate, due process would say an individual is innocent until proven guilty, while for crime control, a person that is guilty has to wait to be proven innocent in the courts.
