While ADHD is most commonly diagnosed during adolescence, the symptoms can often continue into adulthood. Stimulant medications are often prescribed to assist the patient in organizing, completing schoolwork, and counseling them how to manage their behavior. There are several different therapies that may assist the individual. The main goal of counseling is educating the individual to control their behavior by thinking about their actions before they speak. It has also been beneficial in educating the person on their ADHD diagnosis in hopes of developing skills and incorporating them into their daily lives.
