Dual Enrollment English has been a very beneficial and productive class for me. I have been helpful. Throughout the second semester we’ve written paper about three big papers and I’ll be talking about my experience in writing those papers. Starting with my narrative from the first semester all the way to the last paper the multigenre, Dual Enrollment has prepared me for college and it’s safe to say that I am ready. I’m thankful that this class has showed me an insight of how a college class operates. My goal with Dual Enrollment English was to simply become a better and get a decent grade on all of my papers but as the year went by I realized that it takes effort in producing a well-written essay. My objectives changed and I realized that

Eventually I figured out everything that I needed to do and go to work. It wasn’t a difficult paper but it needed time and no room for procrastination. A huge portion of the paper revolved around research and the grade was going to depend on how you used your time. I did a survey in which I was very proud of because it turned out just how I expected it. The nultigenre was a fun paper and I’m looking forward to creating another one in the future.
My high school career has come to an end and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m going off to Shenandoah University and I’m looking forward to starting anew. I will forever be thankful to
Dual Enrollment English because it exists and all of it has taught me. It has taught me to be patient with my writing and that procrastination will only affect my grade in a poor manner. I’ve learned that research is everything because it extends your paper so the reader can get a better understanding. I’ve achieved great things in English and I’m happy I decided to take this class because I wouldn’t have received everything that I know now. Seeking help, asking questions, doing an infinite amount of research, and using my time wisely is what I’ve learned and

I took Dual Enrollment to experience how future college coursework would be like. I hope to learn how to write more organized writing assignments. In addition, I hope to build up my vocabulary. When writing, I enjoy how I can be open-minded. I can write how I feel and what I learned because not all of us have the same perspective when it comes to certain works of literature.…

“Procrastination is key” said no one, ever. That is why I had a bout of anxiety when I waited to write this essay, especially when I had one eye on my college applications, and the other on approaching deadlines. Scary, I know. However, I had a reason for waiting, and it was a good one.…

Surviving English Comp 1 Writing Class Writing is one thing I hate the most. It was hard to write an essay for the first time because I did not have the knowledge or concept of this writing style. Before this class, I thought I knew what writing was all about by expressing my thoughts, ideas and feeling. I know now that I had the wrong concept on how to write. I can express my thoughts, ideas and feeling, but if I put them in the wrong contents it does not lead the reader to the point of the essay.…

My Journey Through ENG 110 I have just completed my first semester at Virginia State University (VSU), and I don’t believe I have ever been anymore ecstatic, , Over the course of this semester I personally realized my growth. I have learned more than I thought I would in one semester, not only through my professors but, also through my peers and the environment that surround me on this campus. Virginia State has been my number school of choice since I was a junior in high school, so when I got accepted I was in pure disbelief. Ever since I could recall English had always been a strength for me, I had taken numerous English courses, college prep and English honors. This semester has revealed to me that English only gets tougher from high school to college.…

Honestly, I gained some new skills that I thought I wouldn’t have gotten. I think I’ve mentioned that I took AP English Language before, but this class was actually not a simple repeat of that. While AP English mainly focused on the English language itself – such as rhetoric, grammar, and analysis – this Dual Enrollment course focused more on the creative aspects of writing, like the composition and the study of several different formats (for example, the research paper and the brochure). Also, I’m probably one of the least creative people ever (as evidenced by me being the only one that did Choice X for the project). I was too specialized in my favorite subjects (mathematics and science) to branch outside my comfort zone (English has always been my lowest performing class until this year).…

High school is designed to prepare mature, young adults for college. Senior year, especially, may be the most difficult for students since their college years are approaching quickly. However, for most seniors, dual-enrollment is available during their high school years. Unfortunately, taking certain college classes while in high school could be very challenging. Since students are taking collegiate classes for the very first time, some may say that the students should receive a pass because they are dual-enrolled.…

I feel as if, this W131 class has really changed the way I feel and think about writing in general. This class boosted my confidence on how I personally write. I believe this class has benefited my ability as a writer. Throughout high school I was an average writer and didn’t really care for putting all my effort into writing one paper. This year I really dug deep and realized my potential as a writer.…

I wasn’t required to actually take your English class; however, the class was a good start at getting back into writing and bias analysis in literature. Completing rhetorical analyses defiantly needed a scrub down and cleared the dust off of my eyes. I wouldn’t say that my overall English writing had improved in this course, but that is not to say that it was useless for me. Exposure to writings that irked me and writing about them pushed me out of my comfort zone, forcing me to try to find a middle ground on emotional bias in my writings.…

Effects of Taking College Courses in High School High school students these days are juggling schoolwork, sports, extracurricular activities, and work. While this may seem like a difficult task in itself, many high school students are choosing to throw in college courses on top of all of this. This process is known as “dual enrolling.” In fact, during the 2010-11 school year, 82 percent of high schools reported that students were enrolled in dual enrollment courses and 69 percent reported enrollments in advanced placement or international baccalaureate courses (“Dual Enrollment, by the Numbers”).…

The time I knew I had to get things in gear was when I received a failing grade on my Spanish test. This grade was a turning point in my life. I knew that if I did not get my grades on track, I would fail my sophomore year. Without the help of my teachers and parents staying on me, being able to overcome obstacles, and being able to succeed I would not passed. I am a procrastinator when it comes to doing school work.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…
