Background information: In today’s society many people suffer from compartment syndrome and are seeking alternative methodologies to alleviate the symptoms. Research through the use of interviews, academic articles, books, websites, medical journals will be conducted to determine if “Is dry needling effective in alleviating compartment syndrome?”. Through the use of refinement processes such as the mind map, pyramid and the lotus diagram was to focus on my key interests; sport injuries, health and therapies, which then allowed me to formulate specific focus question as shown below.

Qualified physiotherapists were chosen to be surveyed as they would have extensive background knowledge of methodologies of dry needling and compartment syndrome, in which I hope consult. I will arrange interviews via email to gather key information like defining what dry needling and compartment syndrome are. The physiotherapists that I wish to consult are Adelaide Sports Physiotherapy, Eyre Sports Physiotherapy, and Sprout, these organistions have been chosen because they are credible sources due to them completing that same university course achieving a licenses for Physiotherapy. Multiple interviews will also be conducted in person and via email with people from my hockey club such as players within A and C grade player category who have undertaken this procedure, to test if dry needling was effective in alleviating compartment syndrome. These patients have been chosen to be interviewed because they have had first person experiences, these results will be complied to formulate qualitative and quantitative research. The quantitative research will be constructed into a statistical graph for a more accurate compassion, whilst the qualitative data will be crossed referenced with the secondary research to resolve any contradicting …show more content…
This is due the topic having a personal connection with compartment syndrome and empathy for other whom are suffering from this horrible condition. The results will determine if dry needling does effectively alleviating compartment syndrome, by analysis mechanics and biological science behind the methodology of dry needling through primary sources and compiling the key information. This is reinforces responsible decision that will be facilitated based on the evidence provided from the sources complied. This capability will also be best reflected by the process of locating a variety of relevant and reliable sources and having to problem solve to resolve difficult situations for example, not being able to find relevant sources about the biological science of dry needling. This will allow myself to develop persistence to overcoming difficult challengers that may arise during the duration of the research project. Ethics consideration was chosen as the secondary capability due to confidentiality of information from medical journals, the interviews from the patients and the professionals in the field.
