Drunk driving is the act of driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs to the point where mental and driving skills are weaken. Drinking and driving is illegal in all states because it is very dangerous and can lead to major accidents. The states nullify the law of drinking to keep our country safe, and also so people do not have to face consequences. The state of Texas is not lenient with laws for drunk driving. It may seem unfair to not be able to drink and drive but in all honesty the states have the right to nullify the law to keep each and everyone safe. Today in life teenagers are out of hand and like to go out and party and ignore the consequences. When a minor is arrested under the influence of alcohol the situation is worst. In an article by Nolo, titled "DUI or DWI Punishments and Penalties" it states information about the consequences a minor can face if drunk driving: "A minor who is arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs wont get any breaks from punishment and underage DUI offenders are likely to have their license suspended for one year." Minors who are arrested under the influence of alcohol face bigger problems. The legal drinking age in most states is 21, and drinking before that age is a seen as a crime. All states want to keep our country safe and reduce the number of accidents caused by drinking and driving. A lot of families have lost their loved ones because of selfish people who decide to drive under the influence of alcohol. Driving requires a lot of attention on the road and when alcohol is consumed the brain does not function very well.
