Differences Among Literature and Informational Text Literature, written works that capture the reader’s mind with plots, characters, and much more that widen the imagination. Than one has informational text, a type of nonfiction writing that conveys information about something, which means it is factual. Two pieces of writing that both share the same topic but are shown in the way of literature and informational text are, the literary piece The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh written by Ray Bradbury and the informational text How Shiloh changed the Civil War by Winston Groom. This can be shown through the statement in The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh, “He could only be, and was, the General. “What’s your name, boy?” he asked. “Joby,” whispered the boy, starting to sit up” (Bradbury 321). This points out to the reader that the drummer boy and general are indeed a fictional characters, proving that this text it fiction. Due to their being no specification on both characters making the reader not know if they are real or if they are fiction. This differs from the informational text, “The Battle of Shiloh began at sunrise on April 6, 1862” (Groom). By this information the main purpose of this informational text is to inform the reader about the facts on what happened, when, and why. Not focusing on story or plot. But what actually happened such as the date when this battle took place on. By these statements one sees that a difference between literature and informational text would be it’s informational accuracy. In which in literature most of the text is fiction while in the informational text the information is purely based on facts, but this isn’t the only
