For the last few years, Drumline has gone to Dayton, Ohio to compete for the title of World Champions. Every year without fail, these Huskies have scored high and made Chino Hills High School proud. This year was no different. Drumline went above and beyond this year to make sure that this performance would be the best one yet. Since there are many seniors in Drumline, they wanted to make sure that this would be a show that they would all remember. The theme of this Drumline show was "Seek and You Shall Find." This is such a great theme because it's very insightful

Moreover, The Marching Chiefs provide much more to the community than just music and a half-time performance. The college atmosphere often extends off campus and into the surround community. It is obvious that Tallahassee is home to the Seminoles; whether it is shown through the display of Florida State signs, bumper stickers, or even local business names, people living or visiting Tallahassee know that Florida State University is here. This sense of pride also creates a sense of togetherness within the community. The Marching Chiefs play a crucial role by producing a common sound that represents the university.…

Rubbing Off in the 110 I’ve always been involved with marching band most of my time in school starting in 5th grade. I fell in love with it. I consider marching band an art form. The band marches in many different designs or a patterns on the field while playing music, and for the Marching 110, they perform a dance at the end. For the rubbings project, I wanted to celebrate my time here at Ohio University and give thanks to The Most Exciting Band In The Land.…

This year, our Marching Band got the chance to go to Nashville, Tennessee where we encountered the different musical culture they had. We attended The Grand Ole Opry, a concert where many talented country musicians performed live in a giant hall. It was a fascinating experience when we learned about the musician’s lives through their music and what they consider everyday aspect of their lives that we don’t have farther up north. One of the band members got the opportunity to participate in a dance off onstage during one of the breaks, something the whole band celebrated in camaraderie. A museum with all things country music, “Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum” held all kinds of pieces from various dresses and instruments of musicians from…

Ever since I joined band in 4th grade, people have been talking about how excited they were to join marching band. At band day in 5th and 6th grade, everyone else shared how they couldn't wait until they were a 9th grader and could finally be able to perform and play in the stands like we saw the marching band do many times. In 7th and 8th grade, we had a watered down version of marching band that only played two parades. While I was glad to get snare drum both years, the exhilaration was never there, and I came very close to not joining marching band. But against my will, I ended up auditioning for drumline in April and I got the cymbals.…

The Harrisburg Marching Tigers, in their third year of competitive marching, went in strong with the theme of “Rock, Paper, Scissors”. Starting in July of 2016, the marching band rehearsed eight hours a day for eight days. During rehearsal hours, the band learned and memorized specially composed music written by Tim Stockman and Matt Shervey, along with drill and visuals. When asked what the strongest parts of the marching band are, Jason Groon, the High School band director, says, “I think the biggest strength of our marching band is the desire to get better each rehearsal. That desire is continuously reflected in our scores from not only year to year, but show to show as well.…

I could have died out on the football field. Someone with health issues such as mine should stray far away from football equipment. July 10, 2016 is the day that my hematologist believes was "life-threatening" for me. It also is the day that I knew my quality of life for the rest of my life had to be addressed immediately. Following the end of the 2015 Varsity football season, I knew I had to be in optimal physical condition going into my senior season.…

For this concert, the director chose songs that would reflect different stages of life. I liked this theme and the song choices just for how the rhythms, tempos, ad dynamics were for each song. I also like how some of the musicians described why the song relates to them before the band performed them. While there were several noticeable wrong notes played throughout the concert band performance, the overall quality was good.…

The backbone of a pleasant audio track is in the bass and the drumming. To fully realize the creation of a tune, drums are normally implemented. With the introduction of electronic drumming and drum machine systems, acoustic drums are no longer present in much of mainstream music yet the drum kit will always be a mainstay of music and music recording. To garner clear and full drum audio, it requires a process that takes into account the room in which the drum instrument is being played.
