How Do Drugs Affect Society

Drugs is the worse creation known to man Anyone can become dependent on and addicted to a drug before drug dependence or addiction sets in. (Henson Pg 3). Drugs have been around for hundreds of years and there has been a constant fight to get rid of them but it seems like that would never happen. People will always find a way to use drugs because of the pleasurable feeling and addictive nature drugs have. Drugs have affected societies across the world, local communities, the economy, families and children, and even the crime rate at all levels of security. Drugs had always had a negative impact on society, because the types of things drugs do to people. One obvious effect it has on society is the people who abuse drugs. The users who contract needle borne illnesses such as Hepatitis/ HIV/AIDS through injecting themselves with the drugs. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health’s Date in 2004 shows over 3.5 million users admitted to injecting themselves with a drug once in their lifetime. The Center for Disease Control reported 123,235 adults living with AIDS contracted it from injecting themselves with drugs. Another 25,000 people died in 2003 due to drug-injected effects. It affects society, children, economy and crime rates. Drugs impact everyone and more should be on preventing abuse of these drugs. Communities would be safer if these crimes stopped because of drugs. Children wouldn’t feel neglected and families would be happier. Lastly, lives would be saved. Many lives are taken due to diseases such as Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS from injected drugs, and the psychological effects it has on our brains. Ultimately more should be done to the underground drug world, because it is hindering our progression for better things in this
