Druggist And Heinz Ethical Issues

In the LP5 assessment scenario, there are a couple of issues. The first issue is the obvious fact that Heinz acted unethically and broke into the drug store to steal the drug for his wife. The other issue that I see is that the druggist seemed to have refused to allow Heinz to purchase the drug for a lower price or pay for the drug over time, simply because he discovered it and wanted to increase his profit. My culture, morals and values differ from what I believe that Heinz had to do. I do not believe in stealing due to my Christian beliefs; therefore, I believe that God’s will would prevail in a situation such as this one. This would more or less put me at stage four. I would not steal because it was the illegal and the wrong thing to do. In this scenario, I believe that Heinz did the only thing that he could see left to do. Morally he was doing what he felt needed to be done to save his wife after exhausting all other options. He started off in the preconventional level and the conventional level, where

The United States drug regulations are a joke. The only developed country I 've heard about that allows monopolies in the pharmaceutical world. Literally allowing them to set their own prices on drugs that have the capability to save one 's life. Recently, I did some research on EpiPens and their outrageous price hike. Knocking on the door on what we may think is unethical and inappropriate.…

I completely agree with your post as it explains how Heinz's action was for a good cause, but that he would of still had take upon the consequences for what he did. I also agree with the statement you made about the person that discovered the medicine and how he only wanted to make money, and how the druggist should of helped Heinz in trying to save his wife, but the druggiest didn't care in what situation Heinz was in. Lastly I would like to add that the last sentence was well thought out, I like how you said that a bad action won't create a positive result which is true in the scenario.…

Historical Background Rational choice theory really started developing during the eighteenth century. Before this, especially during the Middle Ages, a fear of satanic possession, or control from a higher power, really dominated thinking (Siegel, 2016). Those who were believed to be witches or possessed were burned at the stake, and their offspring was even considered to have inferior blood (Siegel, 2016). This thinking didn’t really start dying out until the Renaissance period, when new ideas about human nature were developed (Siegel, 2016). The base for rational choice theory really started developing when Thomas Hobbes, an influential philosopher, suggested the existence of a social contract (Siegel, 2016).…
