Drugs can be a vital part of life to many people. Drugs can often be used to revive someone’s life, but at the same time the pills can also be harmful and addictive. Many people are once prescribed to a certain drug and then become addicted to the way that it makes them fill or the effect the person receives from it and have a hard time without it, and over time become addictive. Drug abuses are not alone “over 3 percent of the people” (“National Institute”) have abused prescription drugs in some form. Drugs are over prescribed and over abused by many people, there are many trends in the drug epidemic going on with opioids, anxiety medications, Central Nervous System depressants, and stimulants. Central Nervous System depressants are usually prescribed to treat anxiety and sleep disorders. Most of the abusers, take a much higher dosage than is prescribed by the doctor. These stimulants cause your body to have a great pace, and allow your body to be more alert, have more energy and greater ability of attention. Stimulants also raise your “heart rate, blood sugar, and blood pressure.” (WebMD “Substance”) Benzodiazepines , include drugs like Valium and Xanax both very popular drug that are commonly abused. Benzodiazepines are used to treat anxiety, stress reactions, and panic attacks. These drugs are very helpful, but are very easy to develop a dependence or addiction to them. Central Nervous System depressants affect the “neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid”. (National Institute “Prescription”) These Neurotransmitters are brain chemicals that communicate between brain cells. Allowing a greater communication of brain activity.This allows a more calming and relax feeling, helping people who suffer from anxiety or sleep
