As many of you may or may not know the intake of alcohol and other drug substances can cause life changing effect on your fetus. During pregnancy it is very dangerous to consume any harmful substances such as smoking, drinking, and the use of any other illegal drugs such as those called “Street Drugs” (Cocaine, Marijuana, and heroin). In this paper we will answer your questions on why using these substances are bad, the effect they can have, and ways you can get help if need be. Any amount of these unsafe substances is considered to be unsafe during any pregnancy. The best goal is to avoid them altogether. Quitting before you get pregnant would be the best option, however, stopping drug use at any point during pregnancy will benefit your baby. Pregnancy can change how your body handles drugs, making some drugs even more harmful to you and your baby. Mothers who are substance abusers are more often involved in accidents, are more likely to overdose, and are more susceptible to certain diseases, especially if they share needles. Not only are you harming your fetus, but you are also harming yourself.
If your health isn 't enough to make you quit smoking, then the health of your baby should be.
